Cary Shakespeare, MD
Cary Shakespeare, M.D., President of Clinicians Telemed, has been practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology in his private practice in Bakersfield, California for the past 23 years.

A native of Southern California, Dr. Shakespeare attended La Sierra University in Riverside, CA for his undergraduate studies. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1984, Dr. Shakespeare enrolled in Loma Linda University’s School of Medicine and graduated with his doctorate in 1988. Subsequently, he completed a four-year Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program at Glendale Adventist Medical Center .
Soon after residency, Dr. Shakespeare moved to Bakersfield and immediately joined the local medical community. Since 1993, he has successfully owned and operated a private practice with his business partner, Dr. Armi Lynn Walker.
Dr. Shakespeare has been an Obstetrics and Gynecology physician for more than 25 years.
Nelson Madrilejo, MD
Nelson Madrilejo, M.D. is an Internal Medicine doctor who sub-specializes in Endocrinology. Dr. Madrilejo cares for his patients in a private practice located in Bakersfield, California.
Dr. Madrilejo was born and raised in Lima, Ohio. He graduated from University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in Pre-Professional Studies in 1981. After graduating from University of the East Medical School in 1986, he completed an Internal Medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York. He then went on to complete a Diabetes & Endocrinology fellowship at the prestigious
University of Southern California School of Medicine.
As a private practice physician with over two decades of experience in internal medicine and endocrinology, Dr. Madrilejo treats adults and young adolescents with endocrine disorders, thyroid diseases, and diabetes-related issues.
On a personal note, Dr. Madrilejo is an avid golfer and enjoys traveling with his family. His wife Mila is a Registered Nurse. His son Michael and daughter Nicole are both college students.
With more than 20 years of executive management and leadership experience in the healthcare industry, Mr. Bell brings a broad range of senior management skills to his position as Chief Operating Officer of Clinicians Telemed. In this role, Mr. Bell was able to lead the development of Clinicians Telemed’s successful telehealth program.
Since the company’s inception in 2005, Mr. Bell has driven the expansion of Clinicians Telemed’s telehealth program and services which are designed to improve access to specialty care. Clinicians currently serves 75 sites throughout California and offers 19 specialties.
Prior to entering the healthcare industry, Mr. Bell served as a senior administrator in the financial service industry for more than two decades. Mr. Bell earned a graduate degree from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
Leah Carter, MPH, RD
Ms. Carter has over 20 years of clinical, operational and executive management experience in healthcare. This experience provides great assistance to our telehealth clients; from technology development, operational implementation, quality management and physician recruitment.
As Manager of Telehealth Services, Ms. Luo plays an active role in the process of telehealth clinic development, operation management, physician credentialing and provider relations. Ms. Luo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from University of California Irvine.
As Telehealth Liaison for Clinicians Telemed, Ashleigh Hutchings works daily with Clinicians Telemed’s network of licensed physicians and participating clinics to ensure that each telehealth appointment runs smoothly. Ms. Hutchings also plays an important role in establishing new clinics with Clinicians Telemed; including credentialing, system training, meet and greets, and day-to-day clinic operations.
